Simba in Savannah - a Poem
Simba in Savannah
In a faraway land where the wild are free, and ah
Roaming the lush greens of the great Savannah!
Generous rainfalls of many moons now and then
And of the brilliant stars waltzing in night's heaven.
He is watching underneath the constellation sky
His zodiac is of a charging ram with driven fire
The sign of Aries optimistic, bold, courageous
Simba roams Earth with no fear, does not enrage us.
Then one day he let out the greatest, loudest ROAR
Echoed the Savannah’s desert side, shook its floor
His star’s courageous meaning, now fiery as master
Diminishing, but controlling in his cries of anger.
Simba’s mighty strength yells out not to overdo
For within his power still remains wisdom too
His solar eyes burning like balls of hot coal
Watching his cub girl taken away, away and all.
Of lunar’s soft eyes are now less bright of madness
She clearly is fading away into the deepest darkness
Retreating from where their cub’s been born
Is like a night in the absence of a new moon.
Simba is back, now stronger as ever been read
He is the lion who wears honour on his head
His passionate royalty backed-up by his troupe
His pride rising more than fifty and more in a group.
Simba is territorial, born of solid intuition
“She belongs to me,” he roars, “my precious possession”;
“I am her ultimate protector, so I must take her home”
“Teach lessons ‘bout the stars; prep my baby for the throne.”
This poem came to mind and I dedicate this to a new friend of mine...a good father and his little daughter.
