In My Sleep ~ a Poem
In My Sleep
In my sleep, like a river my tears flow,
Oh baby, why can’t you must know?
Just as the windows veil light from passing through,
A blanket of darkness calmly makes me think of you.
Soft pillows bound me in our cold, empty bed
Oh baby, they seem like rocks on a shore barren and dead.
The quiet room enveloped in hopeless shadow
Thoughts of you creep into my soul’s deepest hollow.
Above the mountains when the sun just keeps rising
Reflects glow on my face, you’ll miss me gleaming;
Because baby you’re nowhere beside me when my eyes awake
My kiss vanishes in the air, only meant for you to take.
In my sleep, my body longs for your arms-a-blessing
Oh baby, strong as vines gently comforting, caressing.
Unfailing warmth soothes from your loving embrace
Early birds’ songs serenade with your every grace.
So come now baby, come to bed with me
We will waltz the night through in unspoiled glory.
In my sleep, you will be in my rainbowed dreams
Oh baby, and so it seems.
